Well, I have had time to recover from FWA so its time for the write-up. I have already posted pictures on my
FurAffinity.
( Read the story under the cut. )'s house and met
reccawolf there. We stayed overnight and left out around 7:30 on Thursday morning to arrive at Atlanta around 2 in the afternoon.
wally_wolf was already there and had our room. We just had to track him down for the key as he was already out and romping in one of his fursuits along with
digeri. We then went to the mall just a block away for dinner and to kill a little time until registration opened. There was a little bit of a line at registration, but it was run very smoothly and did not take long at all. I then went and spent the rest of the evening in the board game room playing some Munchkin Quest.
On Friday morning, we all went to a 24 hour diner nearby for some breakfast. When we got back to the con, I made a round through the dealer's den then went to the panel on quad fursuit design. Once the panel was over I wondered the con with my camera for a little while until it was time for dinner. We went to a nearby Mexican
restaurant then when we came back I went back to the game room before calling it a night.
On Saturday, I got a late start so I
grabbed a plush skunk that
dave_t_wolfe brought to the con as a prop and got some good shots as the suiters started showing up for the group photo and parade. I managed to stake out a good location at the start of the parade and managed to get some good shots despite the poor lighting. After all 201 fursuiters went through the parade, it was nearly time for my next panel. I went to hear Kage talk about anthropomorphic anatomy and the challenges of artists and writers in designing
believable anthro characters. I then killed some time just outside the headless lounge where a furpile had started until the charity auction started. There were many good items in the auction that made me wish I had a little more money so I could have bid, but the auction seemed to be doing pretty well in raising money for CCI. I ended up leaving the auction early so I could catch the next panel I wanted to attend, Kage talking about science and
pseudoscience. Once the panel was over it was again time to find some dinner. After another trip to the mall, I returned to the game room intending to find another good game I could get involved in. However, I ran into a friend from SecondLife I did not know was at the con and ended up spending the rest of the evening hanging out with him and his friends.
Finally Sunday came around, the last day of the con. I went out to another breakfast at the diner, then came back to pack and load the vehicle. Once that was done, I made another round of the dealers' den before going to the fursuit engineering panel. Once the panel was over it was time to say good by to friends new and old, and say good by to the convention for the year.
I had a really enjoyable time at what was my first furry convention. It was not my first convention, I have attended DragonCon twice, but I have to say I enjoyed FWA more. It had a more friendly feel as a smaller con. However, as this was my first furry con, I came away knowing more people in the community then I did and I know what is offered at a furry con so I will know what to do next time around. In fact, next time around will be coming up in a few months with AnthroCon which I a very much looking forward to.</div>
